Privacy Notice

Information we collect

Account information includes your name, email, account credentials and seller type. You may provide a telephone number, business name, website and other profile details. Listings include boat details, price, general location, descriptions, photos and information you choose to publish. Avoid including private documents or unnecessary personal details in photos or descriptions.

When you contact a seller, we process your message, name, email and the listing reference. We also receive information you send when requesting help or reporting abuse. Website operation may involve IP addresses, browser and device details, cookies, security events and server or email delivery logs.

Newsletter records may include your email, subscription choices and confirmation or unsubscribe events. A website account does not automatically enroll you in marketing emails. We do not ask for bank login credentials, full card details, Social Security numbers or identity documents to create an ordinary listing account.

How we use information

We use information to create and maintain accounts, display listings, send inquiries, administer requested services, moderate content, prevent abuse, answer support requests and meet legal obligations. We use newsletter contact information for marketing when you choose to subscribe. Service and security notices are separate from optional marketing.

What other users can see

Your listing text, photos, boat details, general location and displayed seller information can be viewed by visitors and indexed by search engines. A phone number may be shown to signed-in buyers if you enable that option. Do not include a home address or sensitive information in an advertisement.

Your account email is not displayed as a public listing field. However, when you send a seller an inquiry, your name and email are included in the message and your email is used as the reply address. The seller can reply directly and may keep their own copy. Do not send an inquiry if you do not want to disclose those details to that seller.

Service providers and other disclosures

Hosting and email providers, including DreamHost, process data needed to operate the service. WordPress and FluentCRM organize account and newsletter records on the site; FluentSMTP handles email delivery and logs. Providers and authorized administrators may access relevant data for operation and support. We may disclose information when legally required, to investigate abuse, protect rights or safety, or in a business transfer subject to applicable protections.

Payments and external websites

Boat purchase payments are arranged directly between buyer and seller. We do not operate a boat escrow account. If you follow a Ko-fi or PayPal link, you leave our site and the provider’s notices and terms apply. Payment providers may collect financial details and send the recipient transaction information such as name, email, amount and status. Do not submit banking credentials or payment card details in listings, inquiry forms or support emails.

Any future membership checkout will identify its payment provider and price before payment. We will update this notice before introducing materially different data processing. SMS verification is not currently offered; its provider and handling of phone numbers must be disclosed before activation.

Cookies and Google services

WordPress uses cookies for functions such as authentication and account preferences. Google services integrated through Site Kit may collect website usage and device information. Embedded videos or external content may involve their providers’ data practices.

You can restrict cookies in your browser; blocking essential cookies may affect sign-in. Contact us for information about privacy choices. For questions about tracking and your privacy choices, email info@usedboats.shop. We will honor applicable privacy rights.

Retention and deletion

We retain account and listing records as needed to provide the service, administer disputes, prevent abuse and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. Marking a boat sold or pausing it removes the public advertisement but does not delete its underlying records or your account. You can request account or data deletion at info@usedboats.shop.

Email delivery logs are currently configured for automatic deletion after 14 days. Separate support emails, recipient mailboxes, hosting logs and backups may have different retention periods. We assess deletion requests against applicable legal and security requirements. Deleted public content may remain temporarily in backups, search caches or copies kept by other users. We cannot delete another person’s independent records.

Your requests and rights

You may request access, correction or deletion, or ask about information we hold about you. Where applicable law provides them, rights may include obtaining a portable copy, withdrawing consent and opting out of sale or targeted advertising. Send requests to info@usedboats.shop. We verify requests proportionately, explain applicable exceptions, and respond within the period required by law. Do not email identity documents or banking details unless a justified secure verification process is separately arranged.

If an applicable privacy law provides an appeal right, reply with “Privacy appeal” and explain your concern. We will explain the outcome and any applicable complaint route, including the Connecticut Attorney General. Newsletter emails include an unsubscribe option; opting out of marketing does not close your account.

Security and children

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the service, but no website, email channel or transmission is completely secure. Report suspected compromise promptly. Accounts and listings are intended for people aged 18 or older. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can assess and address it. Material changes to this notice will be identified with an updated effective date and additional notice when required.
